After once reading that putting your Christmas decor up early actually makes you happier (sorry to all the haters :P) , I felt fully empowered to decorate my apartment for the holidays whenever I wanted to. But why wait for Christmas to decorate your space? Here is my guide to cozy and warm fall decor.
There will be affiliate links and suggestions for items to purchase within this post but something I want to urge you to do is use what you have first. I’m tempted to buy new decor items every season and empty out Target’s ‘dollar’ section, but there is no need!
I store my decor and I’m able to re-use key items each season and even make my own decorations at times. You don’t need to spend a lot of money to make your space feel homey. You just need to be creative. You also don’t need a ton of space. Decorate your desk, apartment, bedroom, or whatever small or big area you personally have access to.
Warm Candles
I don’t know WHY it took me so long to realize how much of game-changer candles are. Not only do they visually look amazing, but they will also make your whole space smell incredible. I’d highly recommend this lighter from Amazon that you can actually charge. It also looks cuter than your typical lighter!
If I’m feeling more of an ‘elegant’ almost perfume scent, my go-to is the iconic ‘Leaves‘ candle from Bath and Body Works. I also love the Peony candle from Siblings. Siblings is a better environmental option because you pour their candles into whatever existing candle holder you have.
Sweet candles are also incredible. I don’t have any ‘signature’ scents but anything that sounds like something you’d want to eat for dessert is a safe bet. ?
Garlands and Lights
There is nothing with more bang for your buck (in my opinion) than string lights. You can choose basic lights or get fancier with your string lights. In my opinion, warm lights are the best option because they create a more cozy feel.
This garland from Amazon actually includes leaves and lights which is super convenient!
Cute Signs
Yes, you can buy some cute signs for decor, but you can also make signs using large pieces of wood and paint or plain off paper and pen.
I love signs like this one that have ‘cheeky’ sayings. Letter boards are also great options because you can just change the saying each season.
Warm Slippers
I bought these slippers from Minnetonka after staying in an Airbnb that has slippers for guests to use. I chose this brand because I was eyeing the UGG version but couldn’t commit to the price tag.
I never realized how slippers can instantly make a place feel so cozy and homey. I’m learning more and more how our body responds to our senses and part of having a cozy space is creating ways for yourself to just feel more comfortable. Though I will say that the Chestnut color has gotten a bit dirty over time. Black might be a better option.
I hope these tips were helpful and that you are enjoying this fall season!
Love always,
